Another amazing and inspiring update from a Rockin’ Recipient! Kelsie Layman is attending Union University in Tennessee and lovin’ every minute of it! Her mom sent me some pictures of her and her roommates and quick update this last week:
Hey, Liz,
Kelsie’s college has a short, January term that the EDGE students do not attend, so, she has just started back with her spring semester. She is still having the time of her life and soaking it all in! The fall semester went really well for her in her classes. She took: Intro to College living, Intro to Employment training, Cooking lab, New Testament, Leading the Learning Environment, & Fitness for Health. This semester she will be taking: Interpersonal Communications, Games, Rhythms & Sports, Healthy Eating Lifestyle, Art & Music therapy, Principles of Management, & Technologies & Finance. Her internship hours will be working in the Commons area.
Last semester, she also had a teacher who was the ladies basketball coach. He sent her EDGE director an email stating how much he enjoyed having Kelsie in class & that, if it was ok with her parents, for her to be a student assistant for the ladies’ basketball team in the fall! Of course, Kelsie is so excited about this opportunity & we are so proud of her & the fact that she made such an impact, already, at her college. Being the social butterfly that she is, she will do well in this new position this fall. We are including some pictures of Kelsie in her dorm room with her sweet roommates. Thank you all, again, for your support & belief in Kelsie. We are forever grateful!
