Can I get a ‘woot woot’ for independence AND community support!! The two might sound like opposites, but they’re actually deeply intertwined – as so many of our Rockin’ Recipients and their families know. Like 2016 Rockin’ Recipient Luke Drumright, who recently moved out of his family’s home to share a home with two roommates! ???????? His mama emailed, “There is lot to learn – but he is loving it! Thanks for your support for SVSU. It was his time in the dorm that gave us the confidence for him to live independently.”

So awesome!! ???????? With quality learning experiences and the right supports, people can become independent if that’s what’s right for them! Luke’s mom also shared that he recently interviewed for a 2nd part time job and got it ???? He’d taught swim lessons and also was a teaching assistant for a swimming class last semester at Saginaw Valley State University, and after all that he was looking forward to taking a break from teaching. “He is in the water 4 times a week training for USA DS Team,” said his mom – Luke, we are so proud of all that you are accomplishing!! Keep up all the hard work!!
