We have had lots of our Rockin’ Recipients intern on Capitol Hill. Last year Alex was a congressional Intern on Capitol Hill for 3 semesters and absolutely loved it. He put together packets for constituents, picked up flags from the Flag Office, signed constituent correspondence using the autopen, did some data entry and picked up dry cleaning……as he liked to put it “regular intern stuff”. Along the way he learned to travel unsupported in the DC Metro and work independently (sans job coach, or support staff), all while enjoying his daily lunch of sushi AND frozen yogurt in the cafeteria. He might even say that was his favorite part ????

This was an incredible experience for him and one he would love to repeat. The skills that he learned in this internship is what paved his way to his current paid internship at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, where he works in the logistics department putting together packets for patients, learning how to fix things and taking inventory.

I love how these intern positions are helping them learn and grow and are turning into MORE with all the skills they are learning!!

Keep on rockin’ it Alex! We are so proud of you!!
