So yesterday was amazing. Over 20 years ago, I lucked into waiting tables at Maudie’s TEX-MEX and having Joseph Draker as my boss. At the time he had one restaurant, and I got to be a part of helping open #2. After that I moved away, came back after 10 years, got married and had some babies, but the people I met through Maudie’s remained like family. After we had Ruby and decided we wanted to do something to give back to the community, this “family” was dreaming up a charity golf tourney. They decided they wanted our brand new organization, Ruby’s Rainbow, to be their beneficiary…and the rest is history. They were the first money we EVER RAISED with that first year bringing in $7,500! My goal that first year was a simple $2k, so this blew me away!! Over the last six years this tournament alone has grown and raised $101k…and that number will be bigger next week when we get the final total in from yesterday!!

These amazing people(my family!) came together and believed in us before we even believed in ourselves and gave me the confidence and courage to move forward and push through and create something that I am so incredibly proud of. I never would have imagined all those years ago we would have been able to accomplish so much in the short years since Ruby was born!!

Thank you Joe, Joe Ruhoff, Ryan Leugers, Tracy Rassett, Laila Sanii and Katie Moran for lovin’ us the way you do and putting so much time and heart into this event! I am SO GRATEFUL to each of you!! And THANK YOU to all the golfers and volunteers who come out year after year to make it so fun and successful!! And I simply cannot wait to give out a $10,000 scholarship awarded in honor of Maudie’s this fall!!! EEK
