Meredith is a sophomore at George Mason University LIFE Program. She says,”Just like my sisters, my parents said I should go to college and I am.” And why not? She is thriving on campus and working toward he ultimate life goal of working with animals. She also says her parents “treat me no different and I don’t want to be.”
I see so much of my own daughter in each of these faces and stories. With each new year I get the honor of getting a front row seat into the possibilities of what the future might hold for Ruby. It means so much to me to be able to share the stories and accomplishments of people like Meredith. I hope you share them too, so we can continue to educate the world on what Down syndrome really, truly looks like. So that one day, getting a Down Syndrome diagnosis for your child won’t be something to fear or initially be sad about…because a different future of possibility and hope will be the norm.
