Project Description

Rachel Handlin is now finishing her fourth semester at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). She’s working hard to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Media! If the name Rachel Handlin sounds familiar, it’s because she was among our Rockin’ Recipients in 2015!

Even before she began attending CalArts, her resume was quite impressive. Since she’s been a student, Rachel has received awards, special recognitions, and exhibited her skills as a speaker and artist — including being one of our Rockin’ Ambassadors (she helps spread the good word about what we do at Ruby’s Rainbow)!

Rachel’s college education has already made a huge impact on her life. In her first semester, she studied the French photographer, Eugene Atget, and spent 89 hours (!!!) in the darkroom working to make her negatives, contact sheets, working prints, and final prints come to life!

Her collegiate career will surely have a photo finish! Oh snap! Keep rockin’ it Rachel!
