Adanna Smith

Meet Adanna Smith, this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Pascal Family Scholarship Award recipient, who is starting her freshman year in the Duquesne University Compass Program this fall to study music theater and performance.

Adanna already has years of hands-on experience to bring with her. She’s spent three years working at a senior independent living home, building relationships with residents and staff alike. She’s excited to grow that same sense of connection at Duquesne, meet new friends, and build her network as she starts this new chapter.

When she’s not working, Adanna loves to dance, play pickleball and bocce, and simply spend time with people she loves. One of her proudest moments came in high school, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen, a title that fits her well, since everyone who meets Adanna talks about her warmth.

Adanna is known for being a deeply loyal and empathetic friend, the kind of person who lights up a room and spreads joy wherever she goes. Welcome to the Compass Program, Adanna. Go make it your own!
