Angela Shehata
2026
Music has always been central to Angela Shehata’s life, and this fall she’s bringing that passion to the University of Dayton as this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Esther Mickey Sisson Scholarship Award recipient.
Angela has performed at nursing homes, military reunions, art gatherings, church services, and even twice at a local market to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Her goal now is to become a violin teacher and keep growing her public performances, sharing the gift of music with even more people.
Music isn’t Angela’s only passion. She loves combining American Sign Language with music, staying active at the gym, and reading her Bible. She’s also earned her green belt in karate, a proud accomplishment that speaks to her discipline and drive. On top of it all, Angela has held the same job for eight years and volunteers regularly at a local cat shelter.
Angela’s dedication, to her music, her faith, her community, and her own growth, is evident in everything she does. Bravo, Angela! We’re cheering you on as you perform in your next chapter at Dayton.
