My grandfather [who was a teacher and passed away] would like for me to be a teacher’s aide and he would be so proud.” — Jason Rogers

Jason, a student in Lipscomb University’s IDEAL program, has a dream to be a teacher’s aide and be in the classroom like his grandfather, who passed away about four years ago. Toward that end, Jason has taken classes on “schooling in America”, and in high school worked in an elementary school and “enjoyed working with the children and reading to them.” Jason participated in “Disability Day” on the Hill and “lobbied” his state senator for public transportation and affordable housing for people with disabilities. Jason and his father once raised $6500 for Wounded Warriors by riding bicycles from Louisiana to North Carolina with a few wounded warrior hand cyclists. He’s also volunteered and worked in an orphanage in Honduras where they built a porch, painted the house and took children on field trips.
