Courtney is a “rising sophomore” at the University of North Carolina–Greensboro; she is working toward becoming a teacher at a daycare so she can work with young children. She worked at a local daycare and shared in her scholarship application that “I liked helping the kids read.”

One of Courtney’s former teachers described her as “a very determined and result-oriented student. If she experiences a difficult situation, she will adjust to the problem or concept.” Courtney shared in her application that she wants to advocate for herself and become an independent adult. She loves singing, reading, dancing and swimming, and is an avid abstract artist.
