Rockin’ Recipient Jared graduated from Otsego Academy in the spring of last year, and after spending a summer at home has since moved back to the community near Otsego into his own apartment. Part of being independent is getting a job, so I asked him how the job search went. Jared said that he turned in the application himself and was ready to apply for more jobs, but luckily, he got hired to his first choice! He’s had previous experience at a pizzeria and is excited to do it again!
“I am being trained to make pizzas. I want to move up and learn more things. It was easy, an employee shows me step by step and I try my best to copy. Making pizzas very fun and also meeting new people. The hardest thing so far is keeping my arms steady while taking the pizza out of the oven. I find it enjoyable I kinda feel more independent. I believe me working there impacts the way they perceive me and other individuals with disabilities. I hope with me working there, they will be more willing to hire more people like me.”
He also says, “I love my job, and the people who I work with. They have become family and I hope my success will inspire others.”
Keep on rockin’ it, Jared!! We are so proud of you!!
