“That’t the right of passage every kid experiences when you go off to college…You learn to be an adult and you learn how to take care of yourself…”
Madison was the first person with Down syndrome to graduate with a regular diploma from DC public schools and the growth her mom has seen in her in just her first year at George Mason University has been incredible. She says, “When you are expecting and daughter and you think ‘maybe she’ll be the next president…. It’s never made any sense to me to lower the bar or say ‘she can’t do it.’ I never cut off my expectations.”
Let’s send more students like Madison to college, ya’ll.
