This is us. Everything in that little square is what matters to me the most in this world. It’s been a bit since I have told everyone about us, how we started and why we are so passionate about what we do, so I thought I would do just that: tell our story.

Here goes: I always knew I wanted to be a mama. And you see that hunky dude in this picture? Well, I knew the moment I met him (while livin’ by the beach in San Diego) that he was the one. He made life fun and beautiful, and after two years of being beach bums together, he got down on one knee and with his great-grandmother’s wedding ring tied around a new rescue-puppy’s neck (how could I say no-really?!) and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. Even without the puppy I was ready to jump head first into a life with this dude. Before gettin’ hitched, we moved back to Austin where I was from, to settle down, grow some roots and raise some babies.

We had our first daughter, Ella Mae (the beauty with her arms around my neck), about a year later, and BAM!! We were a sleep-deprived family of three. People try and tell you how much you are gonna love that baby when it comes, but there is truly no way know until they put that little human you created in your arms. I seriously didn’t know if my heart could get any bigger or more full of love. We always knew we wanted a sibling for Ella Mae, so we decided to go for baby #2 and were super excited when we found out we had another girl on the way. Sisters. Oh my heart!!

The pregnancy went smooth but I never really felt like I was getting bigger as the pregnancy went on, and then at 36 weeks my mid-wife said I had not grown since the last appointment and off to the neo-natal doctor I went. To say I was freakin’ out was an understatement, but deep down I think my mama instinct knew something was different, and I was scared to death of something happening to my sweet baby girl that was in my belly. You never really think this kind of stuff is going to happen to you…and then it just does. More on Ruby’s birth tomorrow!!
