While we have made great strides in providing post-secondary educational opportunities for people with Down syndrome, learning at a college pace still provides many challenges for some. Instructional support programs and accommodations are often necessary and look very different from program to program. They are often tailored to the individual’s needs.
Many of the professors that have taught students from these programs in their classes report that they believe they become better teachers because they are working to include a wider diversity of students in their classes.
