Hoang is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient who was awarded his first Ruby’s Rainbow scholarship in 2017. He attends the Mason LIFE Program at George Mason University.
Hoang participates in Special Olympics and is on the Mason LIFE basketball and swimming teams. He has also joined the ArtStream and book clubs at school, and participates in Northern Virginia Dancing Stars every week. He has been working as an office assistant in an internship on Capitol Hill for the past year. At GMU, he has received the Academic Excellence in Mathematics Award and special recognition for sportsmanship.
In his scholarship application, Hoang wrote, “I have learned a lot about myself in college. I would like to tell [parents of students with disabilities] that your child can do more than you expect, just give us a chance.” We think that is great advice, Hoang — keep on rockin’ it all the way to graduation!
