BreAnna is entering her second year at Georgia Highlands College, where she is studying toward her goal of someday becoming a nurse. After being nominated by friends to her high school’s homecoming court, she graduated with a diploma and a 3.8 GPA. She has worked as an assistant teacher for the past two years, first at a Montessori school and then at a preschool, and has also participated in Special Olympics for 11 years.

In her scholarship application, BreAnna wrote, “I am the ONLY student that Georgia Highlands College has ever had with Down syndrome. I think I am the only one in the state of GA to be accepted to college. I want to inspire others!” She also shared her high school senior quote — “Don’t underestimate the things that I will do!” — and that “Someday I will like to share with others about ending using the ‘R’ word. That is my goal.”

That is a great goal, and one we share with you, BreAnna! Keep on rockin’ it — you have definitely inspired us!
