Erin is this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Ella Mae Scholarship Award. This fall she begins her first year at Independence College by On My Own of Michigan, where she plans to study independent living skills. Someday, she plans to work part-time and live in an apartment with a roommate.
Erin’s hobbies include singing, dancing, swimming, hiking, and going to parties and on vacation. She is very proud of her swimming at Special Olympics and of being an ambassador for Special Olympics fundraising events. She once sang the national anthem at a hockey game and was also a starter once at a golf tournament. She loves volunteering, and has done volunteering gigs as varied as collecting donations at a concert, reading to preschoolers, doing Meals On Wheels, directing visitors at an aquarium, and being a fashion model at a Gigi’s Playhouse fundraiser gala.
