Brooke is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow LOTTE321 Scholarship Award. She is a sophomore in the EDGE program at Union University, where she absolutely loves living on campus in the dorms and is super proud of being independent. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and she loves hanging out with her friends on campus. She also enjoys singing, dancing and going to movies.
She is proud of developing her independence in college. She says, “I have taught myself how to do more things on my own. College helps me learn the skills to live out my dream of living in my own apartment and having a job.”
For other students with Down syndrome, she has this reminder: “My mom and dad cried when I went to college, but they said they were happy tears. You can come home to visit. My mom and dad are so proud of me. They know I am happy and learning to be responsible.”
