Reilly is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Pride Socks Scholarship Award. He will be a senior at the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs this fall, where he is majoring in Film and Communications. He plans to complete a script he’s been writing this year, and is excited to graduate next spring.
Reilly loves reading, writing and music, as well as basketball and football. He is proud to have developed his independence in college along with his ability to take on more responsibilities. He is also proud to be eating better and getting more exercise. He attributes his success at UCCS in part to the Office of Inclusive Services program, which has helped him navigate the college experience by guiding him in developing his time management, academic, social and career skills.
His advice for other students with Down syndrome is to “dream big and achieve it.” For parents of individuals with Down syndrome, his advice is, “Don’t worry, be happy for your child.” We think that’s great advice, Reilly! We are so proud of you—keep on rockin’ it at UCCS all the way to graduation!
