Nicky is this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Dover Hinkle Scholarship Award. He attends Jefferson Community and Technical College, where he loves learning and is very excited to begin his last year of college. He also loves working at Longhorn Steakhouse, and says both his college experience and his work “make me feel like I’m part of their family.”
Nicky has been active in Special Olympics swimming and basketball, as well as with his local Down syndrome association. He also volunteers at the YMCA, teaching basketball skills to young children. His goals include continuing to develop his independence, finishing his college program strong, and ultimately living in an apartment, either with friends or with his girlfriend.
