Megan is a three-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Team Wes Scholarship Award. After two great years at Kent State University, Megan is excited to begin attending the TAP program at the University of Cincinnati this fall, where she plans to continue living on her own and developing her independence while expanding her educational and career horizons.
At Kent State, Megan joined the Music Club and learned to play the euphonium. She was also active in Best Buddies on campus, and hopes to be a mentor with the group someday. She loves watching movies and has also written numerous screenplays. She made the Dean’s List every semester at Kent State. She was also proud to speak to a self-advocacy group about her experiences as a student with Down syndrome.
Megan’s advice for other students with Down syndrome who are considering college is, “Believe in yourself and speak up for what you believe in.” We think that is excellent advice, Megan. You rock! We believe in you!
