Kayla is a four-time Rockin’ Recipient attending Onondaga Community College, where she is working toward her Associate’s degree in General Studies. She also takes an acting course through Syracuse University. She has also been a lobbyist for the National Down Syndrome Society since 2017, and has the distinction of being the first-ever registered lobbyist with Down syndrome in the United States. Her long-term goal is to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Kayla is very active outside of her studies, including as a self-advocate. She is one of the newest board members for The Lucky Few, and she continues her involvement with Special Olympics. She also serves as a Eucharistic minister for her church.

Her professors and mentors describe Kayla as upbeat and outgoing, as well as committed to her community and driven to reach her goals. Kayla says, “I am very proud and honored to be a Rockin’ Recipient, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for me and everyone else.” You are SO WELCOME, Kayla—we are so very proud of you! You rock!
