Elizabeth—Lizzie to her friends, classmates and professors—is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient attending the LIFE program at Coastal Carolina University. After the past year of remote learning, she is excited to start her junior year this fall with fewer restrictions in place on campus. She lives in an apartment with roommates and a mentor, and is proud to be increasing her independence as well as her technology skills.
Through her studies at CCU, Lizzie has learned she loves interacting with people, and has modified her career goals from working with animals to working with people in some capacity. To other students with Down syndrome who are considering post-secondary education, she says, “College is about independence.” This is so true! We are so proud of you, Lizzie—you rock!
