2021

Darbi is a four-time Rockin’ Recipient attending Ivy Tech Community College. This fall she will begin what she hopes will be her final year, in pursuit of certification in early childhood education. She has loved every minute of her time at Ivy Tech, learning about infant and child development, literacy and more. Her college mentors describe her as resilient, positive and humble. Her goal after graduation is to work with young children in an early childhood setting.

Prior to COVID-19, Darbi enjoyed working a voluntary internship with DSANI, the Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana, where she was Grand Marshall of the 2017 NDSS Buddy Walk in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is very much looking forward to being able to serve in that capacity again once the pandemic ends.

Darbi’s siblings are active in marching band, and Darbi loves joining other band family members in cooking and serving up meals, or loading equipment and moving it to the field for band performances. She loves it so much, in fact, that she has been given the title of “Honorary Band Mom”—and she even has the tee-shirt to prove it!

We are so proud of you, Darbi! We can’t wait to see you rock it all the way to graduation!
