Matthew is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient who attends the UP program at Western Carolina University, where he is studying independent living and career skills. He has also been taking courses in communication and public speaking, with the goal of improving his speech-making skills. He is on track to graduate in Spring 2021, and is looking forward to living and working independently and serving his community. He loves people and horses, food service, sports, and his friends and family.
Matthew thinks everyone should pursue their dreams. For other students with Down syndrome, he has this advice: “Be loving, caring and kind, and go to college because you can learn to live on your own and be prepared for your future.” We think that’s great advice, Matthew! We are so proud of you – keep on rockin’ it all the way to graduation!
