Candace is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Frankenberger Scholarship Award recipient. She has been attending Tarrant County College but will transfer this fall to the Sooner Works program at the University of Oklahoma, where she plans to focus on developing her independence and work toward her goal of becoming a dance teacher. She will be one of the first two students with Down syndrome to attend OU!
Candace loves to dance. During the pandemic, she has been teaching a weekly online dance class for tweens and teens. The class is hosted by the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas, an organization Candace has actively supported for years through her Step Up for Down Syndrome team. She describes herself as smart, talented, kind, honest and a wonderful role model. We see those qualities shining in you, Candace! Keep on rockin’ it at OU!
