Sarah Parrack is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Stella’s Soldiers Scholarship Award recipient. She attends Northeastern State University as a student in the RiverHawks Scholar Program. She loved her first year as a RiverHawk; she joined the Future Teachers Association, attended football and basketball games, and worked in the campus library, checking in and organizing books. She was also honored to be selected as the National Down Syndrome Society’s Champions of Change Female Self-Advocate of the Year. This coming academic year, she will serve as secretary of the Student Teachers Association on campus.
For parents of other young people with Down syndrome who want to pursue a college education, Sarah has this advice: “Please know that your child’s dreams can come true. Believe it!” Keep on rockin’ it at NSU, Sarah!
