2019

Katherine Sullivan, also known as Kate, is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient who is heading into her second year at the Otsego Academy. She loved her first year, including learning new things, making new friends and interning at a bakery. She was active in drama club, book club and Best Buddies on campus, and she enjoyed taking musical theater classes as well as doing karaoke, painting, arts and crafts, and biking and Zumba for exercise. In May 2019, Kate appeared on stage as a member of the ensemble cast in a production of Mama Mia at the Orpheus Theater. She had a ball!

Kate’s advice to younger students with Down syndrome who want to go to college is, “It’s difficult to find the right college sometimes, but never give up because everyone deserves to have the college experience.” After graduation, she hopes to continue performing on stage, because she really enjoys acting. Keep on rockin’ it at Otsego, Kate!
