Katherine Kauffman, also known as Kate, is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Team Hazelnut Scholarship Award recipient. She will be attending Calvin College’s Ready for Life Academy this fall. In high school, she was active in Special Olympics as well as yoga, dance, acting and singing. She was on the swim team and also served as a football assistant. She loves public speaking and has given speeches at numerous high school assemblies as well as before a local Optimist Club and the board of the Denver Zoo.
At Calvin, Kate plans to take classes, live in an apartment, get an on-campus job and participate in Special Olympics swimming. She also wants to continue with public speaking and help others with disabilities. You rock, Kate!
