Jack McCabe is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Durham Family Scholarship Award recipient, and will be attending the University of Central Missouri this fall as a student in the THRIVE program. In high school, Jack loved attending school dances, basketball games and marching band performances; on his own time, he loves playing basketball, going to Special Olympics dances, listening to music, playing video games and spending time with his girlfriend. He’s also an avid reader and loves following current events on the news. He especially loves hanging out with his twin brother, Matt. In 2017, Jack and Matt participated together in the Special Olympics Global Youth Leadership Summit in Austria, which led to being featured in “The League of Extraordinary Humans,” a mobile geo-location game that sprung from the Ad Council’s Love Has No Labels campaign, featuring a diverse group of everyday heroes fighting for love and inclusion.
Jack plans to study hard and develop independent living skills in college so he can work in law enforcement and marry his girlfriend someday. We believe in you, Jack — keep on rockin’ it at UCM!
