Claire Toman is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Dream Retreat Scholarship Award recipient, and she will be pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at Florida State University this fall. Claire formerly attended Tallahassee Community College, where she worked hard, maintained a high GPA and earned her Associate’s degree in Art. She loves reading and watching movies and Broadway shows. She also loves swimming and was on the swim team in high school. Claire is active in Best Buddies and the Down Syndrome Association of Tallahassee.

Claire’s goal is to graduate from FSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Studies and to get a job with an agency that works with people with intellectual or other disabilities. She is also learning about self-advocacy and is interested in public speaking. She says, “I was born with Down syndrome. This is an advantage.” She wants people to know that she is interesting and to get to know her for who she is. We believe in you, Claire — keep on rockin’ it at Florida State!
