Hi there, my name is Mandy Barlow. Kindness, acceptance and loving everyone have always been values I’m passionate about. Having this opportunity to help Ruby’s Rainbow is a dream come true. Currently I’m a stay-at-home mom, or as I like to say, the Household CEO with a Master’s in Patience. But in all seriousness, I love my job raising and advocating for four awesome kids alongside my husband of 25 years, Justin. My oldest daughter Kali will soon be 20 and is currently serving a mission for our church. My second oldest is Jaxon, 15, a sophomore in high school. My youngest are twins, Jordan and Sydni, who are about to celebrate their 13th birthday.

Almost 13 years ago, besides having twins, we were given the surprise of a lifetime when Jordan was born with Down syndrome. There were days in the beginning when I was unsure of what our future might hold and even sorry for myself and my family, not knowing the impact Jordan and Down syndrome would have on our lives. Jordan has brought so much joy to our family, and the day he was born we all became advocates for those who may not be able to advocate for themselves. As a family, we feel connected to individuals who happen to rock an extra chromosome and want to help out in any way we can. We are excited to take the 3/21 Pledge and have the opportunity to raise money for Ruby’s Rainbow, and hopefully raise enough to help sponsor a scholarship for one awesome individual to attend college. How fantastic would that be!? We know that if Jordan wants to attend college one day, he will! He definitely follows in his siblings’ footsteps, especially those of his twin sister Sydni, and because his siblings are his biggest cheerleaders and examples, Jordan will accomplish great things.

In the future, one way I hope to help Ruby’s Rainbow and other organizations benefiting individuals with Down syndrome is to raise money through the creation of a cookie cookbook my sister and I have been working on called No Ordinary Cookie. We are excited to be able to donate 100% of the profits. It has been a labor of love, but slowly and surely, we hope to finish the book, and we can’t wait. So stay tuned…
