Lisa Standal

Hi! We’re the Standal family, and we live in Clarkston, Michigan. My husband, Jim, and I are both former educators and the HUGEST proponents of higher education opportunities for EVERYONE who desires it. Our daughter, Jane, who is now 19, has been our teacher in lessons of kindness, perseverance, acceptance, living in the moment, hard-work, big dreams and always seeing the best in others and in herself. She always loved school, learning, and the friendships that came with it. It was hard to imagine all of that stopping after high school. But thanks to Ruby’s Rainbow, we were made aware of the fact that post-secondary educational opportunities existed for people with Down syndrome. Jane is now living her dream of being a college student…living in a dorm and studying early childhood education at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI (complete with a scholarship from Ruby’s Rainbow!). We couldn’t be more appreciative and wish the same for all of our friend’s rockin’ that beautiful extra chromosome. Thank you SO much for your support.
