Hello! We are the Steen family. We joined the Lucky Few when our son Liam was born with Down syndrome 13 years ago. What we quickly learned is that the “problem” with Down syndrome is the misconceptions held by society and all of the institutions/systems we depend on (school systems, government programs, insurance companies, transportation, job application processes, representation in media, what is deemed newsworthy, etc. etc.).

We love Ruby’s Rainbow because not only is it making an impact on individuals and enabling them to pursue their dreams, but the recipients are changing all those misconceptions and showing the world what they can do! The success of each recipient will make the world better for all those rockin’ individuals that follow them!
