My name is Julie LaChance and I am from Dripping Springs, Texas. I am blessed with a wonderful family – my husband, Gary, my teenage son, Logan, my mother, Judy (it’s wonderful to have a grandmother living with us!), and my son and daughter-in-law, Lindsey and Jessica, and precious grandson, Rhett, who live in Southeast Texas. I work in accounting for an insurance network in Austin and spend my free time with family and friends, and just enjoying everything life in the Texas Hill Country has to offer.
On January 11, 1989, almost one year after my oldest son was born, my sweet daughter Lauren came into this world. I carried her full term and was unaware that she had Down syndrome or a heart defect. Unfortunately, Lauren was stillborn, and my world came crashing down into a million pieces. As you can imagine, my heart holds a very special place in it for children with Down syndrome. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my sweet Lauren and imagine what a gift she would be to our lives.
For many years I have wanted to donate my time and love to an organization that would allow me to support the Down syndrome community. As soon as I heard about Ruby’s Rainbow, I knew I wanted to help with their mission. They are changing the future for people with Down syndrome, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Pledge Committee! Let’s work together to raise awareness and support for these young adults to pursue their college education and DREAMS!
