Kirsta is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient who was awarded her first Ruby’s Rainbow scholarship in 2017. She attends the BUILD program at Bethel University, where she is taking courses in independent living as well as math, theatre, physical fitness and more.
Kirsta has served as the manager for the women’s softball and baseball teams at Bethel, and was a member of the Special Olympics bowling team. She also works out regularly (and loves Zumba classes), and participates in movie nights and prom activities. She has also held internships giving tours to prospective BUILD students and writing for Kelle Hampton’s blog.
In her scholarship application, Kirsta wrote about when Liz Plachta and Kelle Hampton of Ruby’s Rainbow visited her on campus to make a video. “I think that video made me cry and it helped others I hope.” It definitely helped others, Kirsta! You are an inspiration! Keep on rockin’ it all the way to graduation!
