Jocelyn Gaines
2026
Jocelyn Gaines is entering her sophomore year at Clemson University’s ClemsonLIFE program this fall as this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Scholarship Award recipient, planning to study Health and Wellness, Public Speaking, and American Sign Language with graduation expected in Spring 2029.
Jocelyn is a standout athlete and musician. Her passion for violin has flourished through years of dedicated study and performance, and as a proud member of the Clemson Club Swim Team, she’s earned multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals at the North Carolina Special Olympics State Games, along with silver and bronze medals at the AWL/USA Down Syndrome Swimming National Championships in Orlando. One of her proudest achievements came through the Palmetto Games hosted by Clemson University, where she qualified for a national swimming competition. This July, she’ll represent her community at The Hartford Nationals in Grand Rapids, Michigan, competing alongside talented athletes from across the country.
Beyond the pool and the stage, Jocelyn works part time at Chick-fil-A as a Head Dining Room Hostess, greeting guests and helping create a welcoming atmosphere. Her bigger dream is to serve as a global ambassador and advocate for individuals with differing abilities, using her platform to promote inclusion, celebrate diversity, and empower others to embrace their unique strengths.
Jocelyn, your perseverance and discipline inspire everyone around you. Good luck at Nationals, we’ll be cheering you on all the way to Grand Rapids!
