Maia Isabel Tenorio: Saint Mary’s College of California

Maia is this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Frankenberger Scholarship Award. This fall, she begins her freshman year at Saint Mary’s College of California, where she plans to study early childhood education. She is looking forward to making new connections in college. After she graduates, she plans to be a preschool teacher and start her own cosmetics business.

Maia enjoys karaoke, playing board games, dancing, hanging out with friends, and attending family celebrations and special events. She is proud of herself for gaining the academic credits needed to earn her high school diploma. Those who know her describe her as caring, smart, friendly and social, and someone who has overcome many challenges with grace and determination.
