Update: 2017 Rockin’ Recipient Rachel Handlin Is Rockin’ CalArts!!

February 5th, 2018

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I getting updates on our fabulous Rockin’ Recipients so much, because I’m so proud of each and every one of them & I just love getting a window into what my girl’s educational future might look like, with some hard work and dedication ???? And today’s update is just so inspiring, y’all!

Rachel Handlin is one of our two-time scholarship winners – she received Ruby’s Rainbow scholarships in both 2015 & 2017. She attends California Institute of the Arts, where she’s a little more than halfway toward earning her BFA in Photography!!! ????????????????????

Her dad sent us this awesome, inspiring update on how she’s doing at school:

“After completing the winter ‘Practicum’ term at CalArts, Rachel has now earned 68 credits toward her degree (which requires 120, although she’ll probably earn a few extra). She is positively on track to graduate in 5 years. And she is absolutely thriving – creatively, academically, and SOCIALLY. She is completely integrated into the school’s community, and pretty much everybody there knows her. AND now she’s talking seriously about grad school!”

Ohhh my heart. Seriously, I am tearing up as I write this – in awe of this young woman and all she’s accomplishing, because she is bright and capable and she found her passion. THIS is what I hope for, for BOTH my girls.

Keep on rockin’ it, Rachel!!! We are SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Keep us posted!!!
