February 16th, 2018
Jason Rogers is one of our 2017 Rockin’ Recipients, and he wrote to us this week to catch us up on how he’s been doing at Lipscomb U!!! I love hearing from our Rockin’ Recipients so much, and this particular update made my ❤️ go extra gooey because of the pics Jason sent along – just look at that huge, proud grin (and that ah-mazing bowtie!!!) ???????????? Jason’s goal is to follow in his teacher grandfather’s steps and become a teacher’s aide. AWESOME goal, Jason!!! ????????????????????????
Here’s what he wrote:
“I am excited about my 4th semester in the IDEAL program at Lipscomb University. Fall semester I got a new roommate, Nate and made some new friends. My classes were Weight Training, Methods of Teaching Elementary Physical Education, and Lifetime Wellness and 2 life skill classes: Skills for Adult Living and Employment Skills. I was in Best Buddies and Young Life and Dolphins Swim Team. I went on a mission trip to TX to help with hurricane relief. My internship was with Candice McQueen, Commissioner of Education for Tennessee. I presented Governor Bill Haslam the Freedom Award also, he was my boss last spring when I worked at his office. I also made a video about how to talk to your legislator about special needs. This semester I working as a teacher’s aide at Percy Priest Elementary for my internship. I hope to continue a 3rd year in the IDEAL program. I would be paid for my work and would live off campus.”
So inspiring!!! Jason, you are doing amazing work and making your dreams come true!! Thanks for making my day so much brighter!!! We are so proud of you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
