2024
John is a three-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Twinkle Twins Scholarship Award. This fall, he begins his junior year in the InclusiveU program at Syracuse University, where he is studying sports management. He is looking forward to becoming more and more independent and getting a job someday with a New York sports team.
John is a big fan of most sports, especially the Yankees, Rangers and Giants. He is entering his second year as the assistant quarterback coach for the Syracuse University football team. This year he will be on the sidelines, motivating the players and helping where he is needed.
He is also involved in Challenger baseball as well as Special Olympics basketball, golf and floor hockey. He serves on the executive board of the Special Olympics Unified Basketball Club and hopes that his major in sports management will help him land a job with a professional team someday. He also holds a part-time job as a peer trainer, supporting InclusiveU students when they attend SU events. Recently, John was interviewed on Channel 9 News in Syracuse about the 10th anniversary of the InclusiveU program. He spoke about the independence he has gained and how much he loves being in college and being included!
In his free time, John loves hanging out with his friends, playing Connect 4 and Uno.
We believe in you, John! Keep on rockin’ it!
