Ben Wilhelm – University of Arkansas EMPOWER (Jacob Gormly Scholarship Award)

Ben is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Jacob Gormly Scholarship Award. This fall he begins his sophomore year in the EMPOWER program at the University of Arkansas, where he is studying animal science. After he graduates, he plans to live independently and find work that he loves.

Ben’s hobbies include hiking, camping and enjoying nature. He also loves listening to music and hanging out with friends, preferably while eating pizza. He is very proud to have completed his first year of college at U of A, where he made good grades and lots of new friends. He especially loved his animal science classes last year, including a hands-on lab working with the animals.

Ben has involved himself in activities both on and off campus, including working out at the rec sports center, volunteering at the Food Pantry, and joining organizations such as Capernaum and Students Advocating for the Environment—basically, going “whole hog” into being the best Razorback he can be.
