Jack Crafton – University of Arkansas EMPOWER (Aaron Anderson Scholarship Award)
2021
Jack is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Aaron Anderson Scholarship Award. This fall, he begins his second year in the EMPOWER program at the University of Arkansas. He loves living in the dorm on campus and being independent. He has made lots of friends and enjoys his classes.
Jack also loves working out, and has been enjoying taking boxing classes twice a week. He especially loves movies, and hopes to make a film of his own someday.
Jack’s professors and mentors describe him as “an inspiring individual” with “a vibrant personality.” To other students with Down syndrome who are considering college, Jack has this to say: “If I can do it, you can do it.” He also points out that living in the dorm isn’t truly being all by yourself, because you’re surrounded by friends. It sounds like you’re having a great college experience, Jack! We are so proud of you—you rock!
