Mary Washam – Southeastern University (Nella Hampton Scholarship Award)

Mary is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Nella Hampton Scholarship Award recipient. She attends Southeastern University, where she has maintained a 3.0 GPA so far. In high school, she was a cheerleader and was active in numerous Special Olympics sports. She was on the Honor Roll and graduated with a 3.5 GPA. Her goal is to become a special education teacher’s assistant, as she loves working with children – especially children who have Down syndrome. She has also enjoyed being active in community theater, and hopes to do more acting in the future.

Mary’s teachers and mentors describe her as motivated and having a strong work ethic. She describes herself as kind, smart and sweet. We know all of these qualities will help you reach your goals, Mary! We believe in you and think you rock!
