Ronald Rocks Work and School!
October 28, 2016
This was just a story I had to share. Ronald is one of our 2016 Rockin’ Recipients who is attending East Stroudsburg University and will be graduating next spring. He has worked at Staples for six years and still does in the summers when he is home from school.
His old boss had this to say about his work experience with Ronald:
“I was first concerned with his abilities and how much he would be able to handle the day-to-day operations of the store. From the first day, Ron never said “No”, never said, “ I can’t”. He was not afraid to ask questions and did anything that was asked of him. At the end of the year, I was required to give him a performance evaluation to all members of the staff. All members of the team are evaluated on several criteria including customer service behaviors, problem-solving and ability to execute functions. I was nervous when I began writing Ron’s review since there was no section to talk about special needs or accommodations. As I sat down and went through the review, I realized that Ron was performing as well as many of the other associates, and better than a few. Ron’s positive outlook, his “can do” spirit and his willingness to help others far outshine any other difficulties he may have.
He goes on to say that “In the time that I have known Ron he has changed significantly. At first shy and reserved, he is now one of the most outgoing associates on the team. I think the education he has received so far has just begun to prepare him for the future. There is no telling how far Ron can go in life. I look forward to being able to say that I knew the famous Ronald Nagel when he was just a kid out of high school.”
Wow, you guys. This story makes my heart swell. Post-secondary opportunities and in the workplace are so important for EVERYONE!! Now we can ALL say we know the famous Ronald Nagel!!
Ronald is continuing to intern at WESS Radio at East Stroudsburg University. He is learning more about the production side of the radio, and will be helping to produce a show before graduating in the spring!!
Keep on rockin’ it Ronald!
