One of the things I have been wanting to do for a while now is give our recipients a platform for their voices to be heard, so I have asked them to each do a blog post for us. I love more than anything to hear about how their experiences are helping them go for their goals and dreams and giving them confidence and independence. Here is Paige’s post about her life at WCU so far:
My Life Experience At WCU
By: Paige Soderman
Hi my name is Paige Alexis Soderman. I am 21 years old. This is my second semester of my freshman year at WCU. So far I have been encouraged to join United Sound, where I learned to play trumpet. While I am at United Sound practice, I get to hang out with friends who teach me to play trumpet.
Sometimes at practice we play games and eat more sweets. We even use games to learn soups, cakes, and doughnuts. I was able to play the trumpet at the WCU Homecoming Football game. I had over 10,000 people to watch me play the trumpet! I played the fight song with the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band! I also got to watch my mentors play in a recital at Bardo. Next week they will be watching me play in my first United Sound recital in Coulter. I am attending a campus church concert with the band. When I’m not playing or watching music, I am doing other fun things at WCU.
I am on the club swim team. I also get to hang out with a lot of friends who are my supports. I have also spoken at conferences with Kelly Kelley.
In May, I will be going on a class trip to Austria and Ireland. I have been very involved on campus and a lot of people know me. Next year I will be running for homecoming queen. I like being a good role model and ambassador.
We are so proud of you Paige! Keep on Rockin’ It! We can’t wait to see where life takes you![/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_5″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
