Hi Liz

I want to thank you for nominating me for the Laura Lee Self-Advocate Leadership Award. It means a lot to me because it helps make my dreams come true. I can show this award to my friends and my teacher from the Down Syndrome of Louisville. This award is my pride and joy and I will always keep it with me.

Graduating from college will help me reach my full potential and become a great speaker. I will keep this award on my trophy shelve in my office and it will remind me that I have achieved my dreams. It will also help me get a job so I can always be independent and live on my own. I want to thank you again for helping me pay for my education and for helping me win this award.

Guys, I tear up as I write this today. My heart is bursting with pride and happiness, not just for Mark, whose speech about the importance of opportunity and inclusion was so powerful it brought everyone to their feet, but for the bright future and hope I see for my own daughter…and for anyone who is rockin’ that extra chromosome. Keep on going out there and reaching for your dreams, peeps!
