2018 Rockin’ Recipient Michael Dillworth Receives His Scholarship!!

Well this didn’t make me cry AT ALL. ???? ????Catherine donated funds her father left to her after he passed away and she sent lovely note to me after meeting the person the money donated went to help go for their college dream:

I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it was to hand deliver Michael his scholarship. The whole drive to the house I felt the strongest sense of my father. This charity account was something he spent years contributing to, with the intention of giving the money to a worthy cause. I know he would be so proud with the decision to give it to Ruby’s rainbow.

Michael knew that visitors were coming to see him, but his mom told him we were coming to hear all college. Michael greeted us with the warmest smile. I held back tears as I watched him read his scholarship letter. He was so proud of himself, giving us a huge smile. It was a moment I will cherish forever, seeing my father’s contributions go to something really really wonderful. We spent several hours with Michael and his family, hearing all about the ups and the downs of their journey. Learning of Michael’s amazing accomplishments. Even though I had never met Michael’s parents before, it was as if we already knew each other, we had the same feelings, same hopes, same dreams for our children. Michael even pulled out a DVD of a show he was on in Wyoming when he was in high school. It was so fun watching it with him, as he told us about his favorite parts and laughed. Michael also told me all about college, how, like most college students, he can’t wait to get back to school. I can’t wait to hear about Michael’s school year next year as I know we will keep in touch with the family.

Thank you for giving us to chance to visually see where our contribution went. An experience that most organizations maybe wouldn’t or couldn’t grant. The look of pride on Michael’s face and the smiles beaming from his parents was something truly magical to see.
