Ian Schultz-Baer: University of Massachusetts Amherst — UMass Inclusive Learning (Marina E. Rose Scholarship Award)

Ian Schultz-Baer is this year’s recipient of the Marina E. Rose Scholarship Award. He is entering his senior year at the University of Massachusetts Amherst – UMass Inclusive Learning program, where he is studying history. This fall, Ian will be interning at the Student Veteran Center at UMass, and he also plans to start volunteering at the Western Mass Food Bank.

Ian is passionate about traveling to historical places and loves trying out new restaurants. He’s especially proud of winning a gold medal in sprinting with Special Olympics and brings that same energy and determination to everything he does.

Ian is always the first to introduce himself and loves connecting with others. As the oldest adult learner in his program, Ian shares his journey and experiences with student clubs and encourages others by showing how college has changed his life for the better. He has built a strong community of friends and support staff at UMass who look forward to seeing him every semester.
