Hendrik Steenepoorte: Shepherds College (Amazing Grace Scholarship Award)

Hendrik Steenepoorte is a proud Rockin’ Recipient who is heading into his third and final year at Shepherds College, where he is studying Culinary Arts. He is passionate about food service and dreams of landing a job in the field after graduation. One of his biggest goals is to live independently in an apartment near his older sister.

Hendrik is a natural athlete and active participant in Special Olympics team sports, including volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball, and he trains regularly at his local CrossFit gym. He’s especially proud of winning 2nd place in the Men’s Intellectual Division at an adaptive CrossFit competition.

Hendrik is thriving in the supportive classroom and dorm environment of Shepherds College. During school breaks, he brings home the life skills, social development, and confidence he gains on campus. He’s a self-advocate, an enthusiastic student, and a true ambassador for his school. College has helped him grow his God-given strengths and step confidently into a more independent life.
